I saw this small bird out in the reef but it was too far away to get a nice picture. Then I came back and it was directly next to the footpath. Yeah and this is the result. This time with a Canon EOS 40D.
This is nice. It kind of looks like a painting. The focus and DOF are good, and although I think the bokeh could be a bit better, it's not too bad. I like the colours; the muted colours work well, and the background really complements the bird. The composition is good, althogh it's a shame about the blurred-out leaves at the bottom of the frame. They're quite distracting, but you can't crop them out without spoiling the shot, so . The branches in front of the bird lead the eye into the image, and all of the branches together create a nice framing effect. I really like how the bird doesn't stand out dramatically from the background and is partly hidden behind the branches. I couldn't say why, but it works very well. I think this could make quite a nice print.

Great shot!
